Day 1:
Arrive either at a London Heathrow airport, or at Dover after your early morning ferry crossing from Calais. We then take you into London to meet your guide for afternoon sightseeing in London passing the famous sights of Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square. Also included in your trip this afternoon is a ticket to Madame Tussaud's, a unique chance for you to meet the stars of stage, sport, history, politics, and music! Overnight London area for coach groups, London centre for air groups.
Day 2:
Leaving London this morning we travel north to the Midlands and to Stratford-upon-Avon, which is the birthplace and home of William Shakespeare. His house can still be visited in the centre of the town; the local church contains his grave and time permitting the house of Mary Arden, his mother, is well worth viewing. The river with its pleasure boats is a colourful focal point of the town in summer. From Stratford, travel the short distance to Warwick to see Britain's best-preserved medieval castle, Warwick Castle. The Kingmaker's House, the dungeon, the gardens and the fascinating display of weaponry are just some of the highlights of a visit to the Castle. Continue north to visit the town of York with its famous Minster before overnight York / Leeds area.
Day 3:
Leaving York we have the possibility to visit the 18th Century Castle Howard in Yorkshire, then continue north to Scotland. This afternoon there is time for sightseeing in Edinburgh and included in this tour is a visit to Edinburgh Castle. The castle is home to the Scottish Crown Jewels and dominates the city - no visit to Edinburgh is complete without seeing this grand castle. Tonight you stay in Edinburgh area.
Day 4:
This morning we head north again into the highlands of Scotland with the chance to visit Blair Castle and a whisky distillery at Blair Atholl. Continue north, visiting the legendary Fort George near Inverness. Time allowing visit Urquhart Castle or the official Loch Ness Monster Exhibition on the shores of Loch Ness. Overnight Inverness area.
Day 5:
Travel south to the home of Shakespeare's famous murderer, in Macbeth country. Explore the beautiful areas of the Trossachs and Loch Lomond, and the possibility to visit the Glengoyne whisky distillery and the city of Glasgow before continuing to travel south to the Borders, along Hadrians Wall, the landmark which divided the English and the Scottish. Overnight Carlisle/ Dumfries area
Day 6:
Enter the 19th Century by enjoying a steamboat ride on Lake Windermere; pass the tranquil splendour of Ullswater or a ride on The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway. Or head straight from Carlisle to the historic towns of Chester and Liverpool, the home of the Beatles. Continue south to the Midlands area for overnight.
Day 7:
A chance to visit 20th Century Belvoir Castle in the morning, or why not take in the famous university town of Oxford on your way back to London. Late afternoon and evening is free time in the nation's capital, a chance to shop or see the sights! Take time to ride on the futuristic London Eye. Overnight London area for coach groups, London centre for air groups.
Day 8:
Dependant on flight times free time in London for last minute shopping before return airport transfer, for co ach groups why not leave London and take in the see historic sites such as Leeds Castle, or Hastings and Battle, the sites of the Norman invasion in 1066 on the south coast, or the town of Canterbury with its famous Cathedral before reaching Dover for evening ferry back to Calais.
