Information on Turkey Location: On the Mediterranean, bordered by eight countries, in the Balkan region of Southeastern Europe and in the Anatolian peninsula in Western Asia.

Climate: Turkey has varied climate in its different regions with summers are mostly hot and dry and winters can be too cold. The Aegean and Mediterranean coastal areas has Mediterranean climate where the summer months of May through October are pretty hot with very few or no sign of rain. Most of the coastal areas experience high level of relative humidity almost throughout the year. The areas around the Sea of Marmara are a bit different from the above where one can experience a little bit of rain during the summer. Snow is quite common here during the winter. On the other hand, the Black Sea region in the east has a subtropical oceanic climate due to Caucasus Mountains. The southeaster region of the country though experiences the toughest climate with the summer temperature remaining consistently above 40°C with occasional snowfall during the winters.

Atatürk International Airport (IST), formerly known as Yesilköy International Airport, located in Yesilköy, Istanbul is the largest airport of Turkey and certainly the primary gateway for international tourists. Alternatively, you can also come down to Esenboga International Airport (ESB) located in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. Another option for you will be to fly down to Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW), located near Istanbul and known for serving low-cost carriers. Bus and train services are also available from various European destinations.
