Mrs. Guneeta & Mr. Jatinder Taneja (Director & Managing Director)

Overview

We undertook a short study trip to Khajuraho over the weekend to experience the newly opened The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace and to review the destination potential.

The trip was seamless and convenient, with a 1-hour flight from Delhi to Khajuraho, followed by a 30-minute drive to the palace, making it an easily accessible luxury getaway for the foreigners and Indians.

The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace - Experience

We stayed at this newly opened luxury resort and our stay was extremely comfortable and the professional team looked after us very well.

Property & Layout

  • The property is spread across approximately 65 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds
  • Offers a mix of palace rooms, suites, and private villas
  • Combines heritage architecture with modern luxury in a serene setting.

Rooms & Suites

  • Our stay was extremely comfortable, and we were allocated a Luxury Suite Villa.
  • Luxury Suite Villa (Our Stay)
  • Spacious and very well-appointed
  • Featured a private garden and a personal swimming pool
  • Offered stunning views overlooking the palace and expansive green surroundings
  • Ideal for high-end clients seeking privacy and exclusivity

Other Accommodation Options

Palace Rooms & Suites:

  • Located within the main palace building, offering a more traditional royal heritage experience
  • Standalone Villas & Suites:
  • Provide enhanced privacy, outdoor spaces, and in some cases private pools and gardens
  • While the palace rooms are impressive, the villa category stands out as a stronger sell due to its exclusivity, space, and private amenities.

Room Highlights

  • Elegant interiors with a blend of heritage design and contemporary comfort
  • Large, luxurious bathrooms with premium fittings
  • Strong emphasis on space, privacy, and comfort

Dining & Facilities

Two main restaurants:

  • One overlooking a scenic lake, offering a very tranquil dining experience
  • One located within the palace building, providing a more formal and regal ambiance
  • Food quality was excellent, with a good mix of Indian and international cuisine
  • Service throughout the stay was exceptional, personalised, and in line with Oberoi standards

Panna National Park – Experience

We undertook a morning safari on 23rd March, which, although planned last minute with the hotel, turned out to be very interesting and rewarding.

Accessibility

The Mandla Gate of the park is just 10 minutes from the hotel, making it extremely convenient for guests. Maximum jeeps enter from this gate into the Panna NP.

Safari & Wildlife

  • Excellent wildlife sighting experience
  • We were fortunate to see a tigress and her two cubs at different locations
  • The park also offers opportunities to spot leopards, deer, and rich birdlife

Park Overview

  • Panna National Park is a beautiful and relatively less crowded tiger reserve
  • Known for its diverse landscape of forests, grasslands, and the Ken River
  • Offers a more exclusive and less commercial safari experience compared to other parks

Khajuraho Temples

We did not visit the temples during this trip, as we have experienced them previously.
The Khajuraho Group of Monuments remain an extraordinary attraction and continue to be well visited by our clients.

Overall Assessment

The trip was an excellent learning experience.

Key Strengths

  • Unique combination of luxury palace stay and wildlife experience
  • High standards of service, accommodation, and dining
  • Convenient access from Delhi
  • Strong appeal for premium and inbound clientele

Recommendations

  • The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace can be confidently positioned for:
  • Luxury FITs
  • Honeymooners
  • Experiential and high-end travellers

Panna National Park should be more actively included in itineraries, especially for clients seeking offbeat wildlife experiences

Ideal to package as a Khajuraho – Panna – Luxury Stay experience

Conclusion

  • Overall, it was a highly rewarding and insightful trip.
  • The destination offers a strong, differentiated product, and both the hotel and Panna National Park have excellent potential for our high-end clientele.

Thank you
