Study Tour to Mahabalipuram from 28th to 29th March 2025

Mr. Veer Taneja (Head - Strategic Partnerships & Alliances)

This is to inform you that I recently embarked on a FAM tour to Mahabalipuram, which included sightseeing visits and various hotels. My overall experience was experiential. As a result, I am pleased to provide a brief report on my Familiarization trip for your reference.

Sightseeing Overview

Five Rathas

A remarkable example of monolithic architecture, offering an incredible glimpse into 6th–7th century Dravidian temple architecture. A UNESCO World Heritage Site worth seeing. Small area, takes about 30 minutes to explore. Seemed clean and tidy.

Arjuna’s Penance and Surroundings

Very well-maintained and clean. The rock reliefs intricately depict stories from Hindu mythology, making it a fascinating cultural and spiritual walk. The area is also very picturesque.

Shore Temple

Well maintained, with beautiful views of the surrounding Bay of Bengal on three sides.

Logistics

Ideally a half-day sightseeing destination, best visited in the morning or late afternoon to avoid strong midday heat, especially during warmer months like March.

Transport & Guide Services

Our guide was highly knowledgeable, shared intriguing anecdotes, and enhanced the overall experience.

Transport & Driver

Special mention to the driver who was extremely professional, courteous, and always available. The Innova vehicle provided was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. There was also an airport rep to assist with check-in, which was appreciated.

Beach

The beach was quite dirty and unkempt.
