Study Tour to Haridwar and Rishikesh from 21 to 23 April 2024.

I was given this opportunity to go on a FAM tour to Haridwar and Rishikesh from 21 to 23 April 2024. This report summarizes my travel through culturally rich and spiritually vibrant destinations, offering insights into my experiences. Hence, I am pleased to share a “Brief Report on the Familiarization Trip" for your reference.

Introduction

This report serves as a detailed account of my experience in two of India's most revered cities, Haridwar and Rishikesh. This journey allowed me to explore the essence of these sacred places, gaining first-hand knowledge, insights, and experiences to enhance our services and offerings.

Travel to Haridwar

  • Boarded Dehradun Shatabdi 12017 from New Delhi at 06:45 am (Platform 11)
  • Chair Car – train was on time, food quality was good
  • Arrived Haridwar station at 11:35 am (Platform 1)
  • Warmly welcomed by driver cum guide with a placard
  • Started hotel visits in Haridwar

Overview of Haridwar and Rishikesh

Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, these cities stand as timeless symbols of spirituality and natural beauty. Situated on the banks of the Ganges River, they offer a blend of ancient traditions and serene landscapes.

Haridwar

Known as the “Gateway to the Gods”, it's one of the holiest pilgrimage sites. The Har Ki Pauri Ghat is a major attraction, especially during the Ganga Aarti ceremony.

Rishikesh

Known as the “Yoga Capital of the World”, this city is home to numerous yoga ashrams and attracts seekers from across the globe.

Hotel Stay

I stayed at Hotel Regenta Inn, Rishikesh. It is a neat and clean property with spacious rooms, a swimming pool, and one restaurant. The staff is welcoming and helpful. Food was delicious.

Transportation

  • Clean and well-maintained vehicle with seat covers, foot mats, mineral water
  • Driver was knowledgeable and helpful during hotel visits and gave local insights

Meals

  • Lunch at High Bank Himalayan Retreat, Eco Resort – located 12 km from Rishikesh in Shivpuri village
  • Dinner at Satvik Satya Café

High Bank Himalayan Retreat is recommended for clients interested in yoga, meditation, nature walks, Ayurveda, and rejuvenation. However, it may not suit leisure travelers.

Monuments Visited

  • Har Ki Pauri – Haridwar
  • Vashisht Cave (Gufa)
  • Evening Aarti at Triveni Ghat – Rishikesh at 6:30 PM
  • No monument entrance fees

Road Conditions

  • Good between Haridwar and Rishikesh
  • Traffic jams at Shyampur Railway Level Crossing due to construction
  • Experienced 2-hour delay en route to Rishikesh and 1-hour delay on return
  • Heavy weekend traffic due to domestic crowds

Recommendation: Avoid weekends for client travel due to severe traffic congestion.

Return Journey

  • Boarded Dehradun Shatabdi 12018 on 23 April 2024 at 18:04 hrs from Haridwar
  • Arrived Delhi at 22:50 hrs
  • Chair Car – train on time, food quality was good
