I
recently conducted a FAM tour across Karnataka covering Badami, Aihole, Pattadakkal, Hampi, Hassan, Belur, Halebid and Mysore. The
objective of the trip was to evaluate destination appeal, hotel quality,
sightseeing potential, routing feasibility and suitability for different client
profiles during the quotation stage.
Overall,
the trip was very productive as Karnataka offers an excellent combination of
UNESCO World Heritage Sites, heritage monuments, temple architecture, palace
hotels, luxury resorts, boutique stays and authentic cultural experiences.
However, hotel standards and destination appeal vary considerably across the
region. The observations below should assist the team in selecting the most
appropriate hotels, experiences and routing options based on client profile,
budget, room requirements and expectations.

Strongest destinations overall:
Hampi, Mysore, Belur & Halebid and the Badami heritage circuit.

Top experiences: Hampi
monuments, Mysore Palace, Belur & Halebid temples, Badami Caves and
Shravanabelagola.

Top hotels seen: Evolve Back
Hampi, Hoysala Village Resort, Radisson Blu Mysore, Shivavilas Palace and

Weak / limited options: Jasmine
