Gujarat Fam Tour Report from 15-22 April, 2026

Please find below the report of our Familiarization (FAM) tour to Gujarat, covering the cities of Ahmedabad, Dasada, Bhuj, Rajkot, Somnath, Diu, and Bhavnagar:

We reached Ahmedabad at 0740 Hrs, and were received by drive and representative from Jel Tour. On arrival we transferred to Hotel Mani Mansion for wash & Change and Breakfast. Later we inspected the various hotels of Ahmedabad as details stated below.

Transportation: For this FAM trip, Jel Tour assigned AC Toyota Innova Crysta which was new, clean and comfortable. They provided us with mineral water. The driver was wearing a uniform. He was well behaved, knowledgeable, and polite.

Road conditions: The overall road conditions in Gujarat are very good. While highway widening and flyover construction work is on-going in some areas, the roads are otherwise in excellent condition. 

Weather: During our visit, the weather was extremely hot. The best time to visit Gujarat is from August to March. It is advisable to avoid the months from April to July.

Gujarat is a dry state, where the sale, purchase, and consumption of alcohol are restricted under law. However, tourists can legally obtain alcohol by applying for a temporary liquor permit, usually available at licensed hotels or designated government-authorized liquor shops. This permit allows limited purchase and consumption at the hotel rooms.

Gujarat is mostly vegetarian, influenced by cultural and religious traditions, especially among Jain and Vaishnav communities. As a result, many hotels, restaurants, and cafés across the state serve pure vegetarian food only.
Even in major cities, a large number of dining establishments do not offer non-vegetarian dishes. However, selected hotels and a few standalone restaurants do serve non-vegetarian cuisine.

The taste of Gujarat’s food is mostly mild, slightly sweet. Unlike many other Indian cuisines, Gujarati dishes often include a hint of sweetness along with salt and mild spices. However, the hotels serve Continental dishes along with Gujarati dishes.

Ahmedabad is a vibrant city that blends rich heritage with modern development. The city is also famous for its textile heritage, vibrant markets, and delicious street food. Ahmedabad offers a perfect mix of culture, history, and urban experiences for travelers.

Ahmedabad Hotel Visited:

1. WelcomHeritage Mani Mansion

Total Rooms: 22 (3 categories: 8 Executive, 9 Deluxe and 5 Premium rooms). Can place extra bed in all categories. Twin is possible in Deluxe and Premium only. Hotel also has interconnected room.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, TV, spacious bathrooms with shower cubicles, lift and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurants (01 on 4^th floor that has only South India and millet based cuisine restaurant and another on ground floor is a multi-cuisine restaurant), Swimming pool, Gym and parking.

Remarks: Charming heritage boutique hotel set in a beautifully restored haveli. Blending old-world Gujarati architecture with modern comforts, it provides a warm, homely ambiance along with a focus on healthy dining and personalized service—ideal for travelers seeking an authentic cultural experience in the heart of Ahmedabad.

2. Fortune Park, Ahmedabad – Member of ITC Group

Total Rooms: 77 rooms (4 categories: Deluxe, Club, Premium, and Suite). Extra Bed: Not available in Deluxe category due to smaller room size

Room Amenities: Well-appointed rooms featuring Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safety locker, TV, Wi-Fi access, comfortable bedding, and modern bathrooms.

Hotel Amenities: 1 Multi cuisine restaurant, Lift, parking

Remarks: A mid-scale business hotel offering comfortable and functional stays in Ahmedabad. At the time of inspection, the property was undergoing renovation, and only 2–3 sample rooms were available for viewing. Post-renovation, the hotel is expected to offer refreshed interiors and improved guest experience.

3. Radisson Blu Ahmedabad

Total Rooms: 120 rooms. Categories and other details could not be explained, as the staff member assigned to showcase the property did not have adequate information about the hotels. He also opened a room with the mast key that was already occupied by guests. Also, the front desk is not interested for any kind of communication.

Room Amenities: Rooms featuring Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safety locker, Wi-Fi access, TV, and modern bathrooms.

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurants (01 is only for dinner i.e Kebab factory and other is multi cuisine restaurant i.e Timapni), Lift, Spa, Gym and Swimming pool

Remarks: Construction work was going just outside the hotel. Spa and Gym is under renovation.

4. Regenta Central Antrium Ahmedabad

Total Rooms: 72 rooms (Standard / Deluxe, Premium, Family and Suite). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin rooms are also possible. Hotel also has 5 interconnected rooms that are in Premium category

Room Amenities: Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safety locker, Wi-Fi access, comfortable bedding, TV, and modern bathrooms with shower cubicles.

Hotel Amenities: 01 restaurant on ground floor, Lift, gym and conference room.

Remarks: A well-located mid-scale hotel in Ahmedabad offering comfortable and contemporary accommodation suitable for both business and leisure travellers with good connectivity.

5. Hyatt Regency Ahmedabad

We waited for half an hour to 45 minutes but we are not able to look around the property as we got no response at the property. Not to use, very unprofessional.

6. Fortune Landmark Ahmedabad - Member ITC Hotels' Group

Total Rooms: 95 rooms (64 Deluxe, 22 Club, 08 Executive Suites and 01 Presidential Suite). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin rooms are also possible in 12 Deluxe rooms.

Room Amenities: Well-appointed rooms featuring Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safety locker, Wi-Fi access, TV, comfortable bedding, and modern bathrooms with shower cubicles.

Hotel Amenities: 03 restaurants (01 near swimming pool, 01 in Lobby and 01 on top floor that will be organised with private gazal session), 2 banquet halls, Swimming pool, Gym and parking.

Remarks: A well-established upscale hotel in Ahmedabad, Fortune Landmark offers spacious rooms. Its central location and efficient facilities make it a preferred choice for corporate travelers as well as leisure guests seeking a comfortable and dependable stay. The staff was very courteous and professional, and showed us the property with full interest.

7. Welcomhotel By ITC Hotels, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad

Total Rooms: 130 rooms (70 Deluxe, 40 Club, 20 Executive Suite). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin rooms are also possible in Deluxe rooms.

Room Amenities: Well-appointed rooms featuring Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safety locker, Wi-Fi access, TV, comfortable bedding, and modern bathrooms with shower cubicles.

Hotel Amenities: 01 Restautant – Ikkat multi cuisine restaurant, Swimming pool, Gym, Spa and parking.

Remarks: A premium hotel by ITC offering a blend of modern luxury and sustainable hospitality. With stylish interiors, spacious rooms, and refined dining options, it provides a comfortable upscale experience. Its central location on Ashram Road makes it ideal for both business and leisure travelers seeking quality service and contemporary elegance in Ahmedabad.

8. Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad City Centre 

Total Rooms: 200 rooms (120 Deluxe, 50 Club, 30 Executive Suite ). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin rooms are also possible.

Room Amenities: Well-appointed rooms featuring Tea/Coffee maker, electronic safety locker, Wi-Fi access, comfortable bedding, and modern bathrooms with shower cubicles.

Hotel Amenities: 03 Restautants (Essence – All-day dining multi-cuisine restaurant, Rangoli – Specialty Indian restaurant and Skygrill – Rooftop dining with grills & global cuisine), Swimming pool (under renovation, conference halls , banquets, Gym, Spa and parking.

Remarks: Offers modern rooms, diverse dining options, and extensive event facilities. It is well-suited for corporate travellers. But it is far from airport and being in the city centre roads can get congested, especially during peak hours.

9. House of MG, Ahmedabad

Total Rooms: 37 rooms (Modern Heritage Classic, Modern Heritage Grand, Modern Heritage Suite). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin rooms are also possible.

Room Amenities: Well-appointed rooms featuring Tea/Coffee maker, weighing machine, Wi-Fi access, comfortable bedding, and modern bathrooms with shower cubicles.

Hotel Amenities: 02 Restaurants (The Green House Café – Al-a-carte menu and Agashiy restaurant – Gujarati Thali served along with live classical museum), The Textile Gallery, Heirloom Shop and Heritage Bookstore (Ahmedabad Trunk), Indoor Swimming pool (Lotus Pool) – currently under renovation, Gym, Spa (Chakra Spa) and parking.

Remarks: we stayed in this property and is located in the heart of old Ahmedabad. Strong focus on local culture, sustainability, and craftsmanship. Renowned Gujarati dining experience (Agashiye), Personalized and boutique-style hospitality. The House of MG is best suited for leisure travelers, cultural enthusiasts, and boutique luxury seekers looking for an authentic Gujarati heritage stay rather than a conventional business hotel. They also, organises heritage walks for the clients on chargeable basis.

Here's the ranking of the Ahmedabad hotels based on my observation, from best to lowest. 

Bajana / Dasada are small rural destinations located on the edge of the Little Rann of Kutch. They are well known as gateways to the Little Rann of Kutch, famous for wildlife safaris. The region is especially popular for spotting the rare Indian Wild Ass and a wide variety of migratory birds. It is an ideal destination for wildlife lovers and those seeking a peaceful, offbeat experience and can enjoy nature, village life, and desert landscapes.

Hotel visited in Bajana & Dasada:

10. Royal Safari Camp, Bajana

Total Rooms: 25 (20 Deluxe cottage and 05 Superior Cottages). Can place extra bed in all categories. Twin is also possible. Some of the rooms are under renovation.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, spacious bathrooms.

Hotel Amenities: 1 Restaurant, Swimming pool, a small lake, and parking.

Activities can be organised at additional cost and request

-          Camel Cart and Horseback Safaris

-          Desert Jeep Safaris in the Wild Ass Sanctuary

-          cultural tours of local village Bajana

Remarks: We had lunch at the resort, and considering the heat at that time of day, they thoughtfully offered us a room to rest for some time, as it wasn’t ideal for a safari. They arranged a jeep safari for us, along with plenty of soft drinks and water. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious, making the overall experience truly enjoyable. The resort is conveniently located just 3 km from the park’s entry gate, making it an excellent choice for travelers coming from Bhuj.

11. Rann Riders Dasada

Total Rooms: 27 (16 Rann Cottages, 6 Safari Cottages and 5 Dasada Premium Wing rooms). Twin rooms are there and can place an extra bed also.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, spacious bathrooms, TV, sit-outs / Verandah

General Facilities:

• 02 outdoor swimming pools (01 is common and 01 is for Dasada Premium wing rooms)
• Lounge area with Wi-Fi (limited to common areas)

Remarks: An authentic eco-lodge experience with deep cultural immersion. The property features unique architecture inspired by local Kutchi communities and offers a wide range of experiential activities, including safaris, village tours, and bird watching etc. The environment is serene and peaceful. The owner and his family were present at the resort and took great care of us. The food was freshly prepared, home-style, and delicious. The staff were excellent—warm, attentive, and show us the property in detail.

12. Desert Coursers

Closed due to off season.

Here's the ranking of the Bajana/Dasada hotels based on my observation, from best to lowest. 

Bhuj is a historic town in the Kutch region, known for its rich culture and heritage. It serves as the gateway to the Rann of Kutch, famous for its vast white salt desert. Key attractions include Aina Mahal and Prag Mahal, showcasing royal architecture. The city is also renowned for its handicrafts, textiles, and traditional artisan villages. Bhuj offers a unique blend of history, local culture, and desert experiences for travelers.

Bhuj Hotels Visited:

13. Ramee The Srinivas Palace Bhuj

Total Rooms: 38 (5 categories – Superior (all twin), Executive, Club room, Junior Suite and Executive Suite). Can place extra bed in Club room and Suites.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, spacious bathrooms with basis amenities.

Hotel Amenities: 1 Restaurant (Mirchi), 2 banquets, Gym, Mock tail Bar

Remarks: Mid-scale hotel located in the city and on road. It can be used in 3 star category.

14. Regenta Resort Bhuj by Royal Orchid

Total Rooms: 78 (5 categories – 12 Heritage rooms, 22 Deluxe rooms, 24 Executive rooms, 14 Premium Category cottages & 6 Heritage Huts). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin is possible only in Executive room.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, spacious bathrooms.

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurant (Gazebo Restaurant - Open-air, multi-cuisine dining with live kitchen and B-Zaika - Indoor multi-cuisine restaurant, Swimming Pool, Gym, Indoor Games, Golf Cart, Spa and Parking

Remarks: It is a spacious, spread-out property, ideal for leisure travelers, families, and those seeking an experiential resort-style stay in Bhuj, with plenty of open space and activities. The variety of room categories, each designed in a distinct style, adds to its unique charm.

15. Kutch Safari Resort – Bhuj

Total Rooms: 20 (2 categories – 12 Kutch Cottages – Bungay and 08 Deluxe Cottages). Can place extra bed in all categories and twin is also there.

Room Amenities: Air-conditioning, LED TV with satellite channels, Attached bathroom with toiletries & hot/cold water, Private sit-out / balcony

Hotel Amenities: 1 Restaurant (Banni – multi cuisine restaurant), Swimming Pool, Parking

Remarks: We stayed at this property, which is located a little outside Bhuj, on the way to the White Rann of Kutch. It is best suited for leisure travelers, nature enthusiasts, and experiential tourists seeking a peaceful  stay near Bhuj and the Rann of Kutch. It offers good value for money as an eco-resort, though it may not be ideal for guests expecting a luxury experience. The staff was very courteous, and the food was excellent, adding to an overall pleasant stay.

16. Hotel Prince – Bhuj

Total Rooms: 51 (5 categories – 09 Standard, 26 Deluxe rooms, 7 Super Deluxe Rooms, 05 Premium Category & 5-6 Superior rooms ). No Twin is possible in Superior Room and Premium Category is convenient for families as it has 2 double beds in 01 room. Super Deluxe and Premium categories are the newly renovated rooms.

Room Amenities: Air-conditioning, Electronic Safe, Mini refrigerator, Attached bathroom with toiletries & hot/cold water

Hotel Amenities: 1 Operational Restaurant (Jesal), Parking, Liquor Shop within hotel, Banquet Hall, Lift

Remarks: It is a centrally located 3-star hotel, which is convenient for travelers. However, some rooms need renovation, and the front of the hotel looks a bit dusty and could be improved. The staff was very nice.

17. Time Square resort and Spa

Total Rooms: 121 (3 categories – Deluxe, Executive Suite and Villa Cottages).

Room Amenities: Air-conditioning, Electronic Safe, Mini refrigerator, Attached bathroom with toiletries & hot/cold water

Hotel Amenities: 3 Restaurant (Namak – multicuisine restaurant, Shamiana – for dinner only and Tipri Café – 24 hrs), Parking, Disco, Swimming pool, indoor games, outdoor games, Squash Court, Bowling alley, Banquet Hall, Conference room, Spa, Salon and Gym

Remarks: A modern, spread-out luxury property with beautiful landscaping and ample open spaces, ideal for a relaxing stay. Located approximately 15 km from Bhuj, it offers a peaceful environment away from the city. It is a premium resort and one of the best stay options in Bhuj, well suited for the luxury segment.

Here's the ranking of the Bhuj hotels based on my observation, from best to lowest. 

Rajkot is a vibrant city in the Saurashtra region, it is closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi, who spent part of his childhood here. There are not many monuments or attractions for tourists; however, the city is well suited for corporate, Business traveller or transit guests.

Rajkot Hotels Visited:

18. Fern Residency Rajkot

Total Rooms: 69 (3 categories – 42 Double Winter Green Rooms, 12 Twin Winter Green Rooms, 12 Fern Club Rooms and 3 Suites). Can place extra bed in all categories.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, spacious bathrooms.

Hotel Amenities: 1 Restaurant, Parking, Banquet halls / Conference Room, Gym & Spa

Remarks: The property has recently tied up with Marriott Bonvoy and is expected to undergo some changes. As part of this, the lobby will be shifted from the first floor to the ground floor. The hotel is well suited for corporate stays and transit guests.

19. Fortune Park JPS Grand Rajkot

Total Rooms: 77 (3 categories – 56 deluxe rooms, 16 Fortune Club and 03 Suites (02 Executive Suite and 01 Presidential Suite). Twin Rooms are also available and extra bed can be arranged. Club rooms are on 8^th & 9^th floor. Executive Suites are on 6^th & 7^th floor and Presidential Suite is on 8^th floor

Room Amenities: LED TV with satellite channels, Mini bar, Tea/coffee maker, Electronic safe, Bathroom with modern amenities

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurants (Orchid – multi-cuisine restaurant and Rainbow – Speciality restaurant for private parties), Parking, 2 Banquet halls (Shubham and Labham), Gym & Spa (Tamara)

Remarks: A reliable 4-star business hotel in Rajkot, offering good dining options and efficient service standards. It is best suited for corporate travelers, groups, and short stays or transit guests. We had lunch at the hotel, and the food was delicious. The staff were also very courteous and attentive.

20. Marasa Sarovar Portico, Rajkot

Total Rooms: 69 (2 categories – 65 Executive rooms and 4 Suites). Twin Rooms are also available and extra bed can be arranged.

Room Amenities: Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, mini fridge, spacious bathrooms, hair dryer and basic toiletries.

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurant (Mehek –Pure vegetarian restaurant) and Garam Giggles – Rooftop café serving Indian & Western cuisine (veg & non-veg options with non-alcoholic beverages) operates in the evening only, Parking (limited & tempo traveller not allowed inside the property), Banquet halls / Conference Room.

Remarks: We stayed at this property, a well-located 3-star hotel offering comfortable and modern accommodation. Its central location makes it convenient for both business and leisure travelers. The food was very good, and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Here's the ranking of the Rajkot hotels based on my observation, from best to lowest. 

The highlight is the Orchard Palace and Riverside Palace (Naulakha Palace), offering a glimpse into princely life.
The town is peaceful, clean, and less crowded. Gondal is perfect for travelers interested in heritage experiences and royal history.

21. Orchard Palace, Gondal

Total Rooms: 7 Palace rooms (03 double & 04 Twin) and extra bed can be arranged.

Room Amenities: Very spacious rooms, Antique furniture with heritage décor, Attached bathrooms, Seating area / living space

Hotel Amenities: 1 dining area, Large gardens & orchard surroundings with birds, Parking, Massage services (on request), Swimming pool, Heritage lounge & common sitting areas, Vintage Car museum (total collection -28 cars), a small train is part of the royal collection.

Remarks: Orchard Palace Gondal is a heritage hotel offering an authentic royal stay experience. With a very limited number of rooms, the property provides exclusivity, personalized hospitality, and a nostalgic ambiance filled with antiques and historical charm. It is ideal for leisure travelers and cultural enthusiasts seeking a quiet and immersive experience.

Somnath is one of the most sacred pilgrimage destinations in India, famous for the revered Somnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Located along the Arabian Sea, the temple offers a stunning coastal setting and spiritual atmosphere. The evening Aarti and light & sound show are major highlights for visitors.

Somnath Hotel Visited:

22. Regenta Central Somnath (4-5 Kms from the Somnath temple)

Total Rooms: 87 (Deluxe, family Deluxe and Deluxe Suite). Twin rooms are there and extra bed can be arranged.

Room Amenities: Spacious rooms including Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, spacious bathrooms, mini fridge.

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurant (Pinxx and Real Kitchen), Outdoor swimming pool, Banquet & conference facilities, Indoor games & kids play area

Remarks: It is a 4-star hotel offering modern comfort with spacious rooms and good amenities, making it suitable for both leisure and pilgrimage travelers. Its proximity to Somnath Temple and easy highway connectivity add to the convenience. Overall, it is a reliable and comfortable stay option in Somnath.

23. The Somnath Gateway

Total Rooms: 73 (5 categories: 40 Elegance room, 15 Executive Room – twin, 6 Family room, 8 Queen Suite, and 4 King Suite). Extra bed can be arranged.

Room Amenities: Tea/Coffee maker, Safety locker, spacious bathrooms with modern amenities

Hotel Amenities: 2 Restaurants (1 on ground floor and other is Swadsagar that is mainly for local Gujarati cuisine), Banquet hall & conference facilities, Garden & outdoor seating area, Fitness centre (gym), Parking Wedding & event facilities

Remarks: The hotel is average and not suitable for inbound clients. There is a strong smell from nearby fisheries, which can be noticed even inside the rooms. However, nearby hotels like Regenta and Sarovar do not have this issue inside the hotel.

24. Sarovar Portico Somnath

Total Rooms: 77 (31 Superior (base) Room, 18 Premier rooms , 20 Executive Room, 4 Family Suite, 2 Sarovar Suites and 2 Presidential Suite). Extra bed can be arranged. They have room no 004 for handicapped people.

Room Amenities: TV, Tea & coffee maker, Mini bar (in select rooms), In-room safe locker, Hair dryer & toiletries

Hotel Amenities: Swimming pool (including kids pool), Fitness centre (gym), Multi-cuisine restaurant & lounge, Banquet & conference facilities, Kids play area & activities, Spa & wellness services, Parking.

Remarks: We stayed at this hotel, and its location is very convenient—approximately 2 km from Somnath Temple. The rooms are very spacious, the staff are warm and welcoming, and the food is very good. This hotel can be used in 4 star category.

Bhavnagar Hotel Visited:

25. Nilambagh Palace

Total Rooms:  20 Heritage rooms and 07 Royal Cottages. Twin rooms are there and extra bed can be arranged.

Room Amenities: TV with satellite channels, Tea & coffee maker, Mini fridge, Attached bathrooms with hot & cold water, Heritage-style furniture & décor, Toiletries & basic bathroom amenities

Hotel Amenities: 01 Restaurant, Swimming pool, Fitness centre / gym, Tennis court & indoor games, Large gardens & lawns, Library & lounge areas

Remarks: We stayed at this property, which offers a royal stay experience within a historic palace and is still associated with the former royal family. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious, and the property itself is beautiful. However, we felt that the service was a bit slow.

26. Clarks Collection (changing into Ginger - IHCL Collection)

Total Rooms:  42 rooms (Executive Rooms, Premium Rooms & Suites). Twin rooms are possible

Room Amenities: TV with satellite channels, Tea & coffee maker, Mini fridge, In-room safe, attached bathroom

Hotel Amenities: 01 Multi-cuisine restaurant & café, Banquet hall & conference/meeting rooms, Parking

Remarks: The room and bathroom were small, and the paint was peeling in some areas. The hotel is currently being rebranded as Ginger Hotels and is undergoing renovation. The property will remain open, with upgrades being carried out floor by floor.

26. Efcee Sarovar Premiere, Bhavnagar

Total Rooms:  99 rooms (85 Deluxe, 7 Premium and 6 Executive Suite). Twin rooms are available in Deluxe Category and Extra bed can be placed in all categories

Room Amenities: Flat-screen TV with satellite channels, Tea & coffee maker, Mini bar (in selected rooms), In-room safe & wardrobe, Bathtub (in suites)

Hotel Amenities: 02 Restaurants (Victoria 23 - breakfast & dinner buffet and Spice story (indian speciality restaurant) - dinner only & ala carte menu), Swimming pool, Fitness centre (gym), Spa, steam & sauna, 3 banquet halls + boardroom

Remarks: It is one of the best hotel in the city, offering a blend of luxury, modern amenities, and strong service standards. In addition to the hotel visits, we also explored key sightseeing attractions that we generally include in our regular itineraries.

On 15 April evening we visited the Atal Bridge is a modern pedestrian bridge over the Sabarmati River, known for its unique kite-inspired design and stunning views, especially in the evening. The Sabarmati Riverfront area is a beautifully developed promenade ideal for leisurely walks, photography, and enjoying the vibrant cityscape along the river.

On 16 Apr 2026 In Patan we visited Rani ki Vav, a famous stepwell built in the 11th century. The stepwell is known for its intricate carvings and stunning  architectural design. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historical and cultural importance. It showcases ancient Indian engineering skills in water management.

Next we visited Sun Temple, Modhera is a famous 11th-century temple dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. The temple is known for its stunning carvings and intricate architectural design. A large stepwell called the Surya Kund is located in front of the temple. The temple is designed in such a way that the first rays of the rising sun once illuminated the main idol.

Jeep Safari at Little Rann of Kutch – We started the safari around 17:00 hrs. The weather was still extremely hot, with warm winds blowing across the desert. Despite the heat, it was an amazing experience for wildlife lovers. We spotted wild asses running across the salt flats, along with flamingos, white stroke, waterhen and white cranes. By this time, most of the migratory birds had already flown back.

The best time for a safari in the Little Rann of Kutch is from October to February, when a wide variety of migratory birds can be seen. A jeep safari is truly the best way to explore this unique salt desert and the famous Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary.

On 17 April: Village Jeep Safari, Dasada – The morning village safari was arranged by Rann Riders Resort, and it was a wonderful experience. We had the opportunity to interact with local communities such as the Rabari, Mir, and Ahir. We visited a local home (Rabari), where a lady warmly welcomed us and showed her handmade crafts. She also took us to a well and demonstrated how water is drawn and how clothes are traditionally washed. Along the way, we met other villagers as well, who kindly invited us into their homes for tea and juice. It was a truly authentic and heart-warming glimpse into rural life.

17 April we visited the LLDC Museum (Living and Learning Design Centre, it showcases an impressive collection of traditional embroidery, weaving, and crafts created by local artisans. The museum offers guided tours that provide deep insight into the history and techniques of Kutchi textiles. They also offer a block printing demonstration area (on chargeable basis) where visitors can see traditional textile techniques in action. Skilled artisans demonstrate how intricate patterns are created using hand-carved wooden blocks and natural dyes.

18 April we visited Prag Mahal, is a grand 19th-century palace known for its European Gothic-style architecture. It features a tall clock tower offering panoramic views of Bhuj city. The palace is popular for its historic charm and has also been used as a film shooting location. Some part of it was damaged in Bhuj Earthquake. Some parts of the palace are poorly maintained and show signs of damage. Interiors are relatively less furnished compared to Rajasthan palaces. Cleanliness can be inconsistent in certain sections.

Aina Mahal, meaning “Palace of Mirrors,” is famous for its beautiful mirror work and royal interiors.
Built in the 18th century, it showcases the artistic taste of the Kutch rulers. The palace museum displays royal artifacts, paintings, and decorative items. Lighting inside is dim, making it harder to fully appreciate the details.

20 April we visited the Naulakha Palace is one of the oldest palaces in Gondal, dating back to the 17th century. It is known for its beautiful stone carvings, jharokhas, and intricate architectural details. The palace houses a museum displaying royal artifacts, weapons, and vintage items. It offers a glimpse into the rich heritage and royal lifestyle of the region. Entry to the palace is complimentary for guests staying at the Gondal Palace. For other visitors, an entrance fee is applicable.

Uparkot Fort, Junagarh is an ancient fort with a history dating back over 2,000 years. It is known for its huge walls and strong structure that have survived many invasions. The fort houses impressive structures like the Adi Kadi Vav (Stepwell) and Navghan Kuvo (Water Well), showcasing ancient water systems. There is also the the famous Buddhist caves, reflecting early rock-cut architecture inside the fort. The panoramic views of Junagadh from the fort is a major highlight. Its blend of history, architecture, and scenic views makes it a must-visit attraction in Junagadh.

Bhalka Tirth, Somnath is a sacred site associated with the final moments of Lord Krishna. It is believed to be the place where he was mistakenly struck by an arrow. The temple here attracts devotees seeking peace and spiritual connection.

In the evening we visited the Somnath Temple is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and is the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Located on the Arabian Sea coast, it offers a serene and spiritual atmosphere for visitors. The temple is known for its grand architecture and historical significance, having been rebuilt several times.

We also attended the evening Light and Sound Show beautifully narrates the history of the temple and its resilience. Set against the sea, the show creates a captivating experience with lights, music, and storytelling.

21 April we visited Diu Beach, clean sands and peaceful surroundings. It is ideal for relaxing, swimming, and enjoying water activities. The beach offers beautiful sunrise and sunset views and is usually less crowded, making it perfect for a calm experience.

Diu Fort is a massive coastal fort known for its strong stone walls and scenic sea views. It showcases Portuguese architecture and historic cannons facing the Arabian Sea. The fort is a great spot for photography and sunset views.

Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple is located by the sea and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is famous for five Shiva lingas that are washed by sea waves during high tide. The temple offers a calm and spiritual experience near the shore.

St. Paul’s Church is built by the Portuguese. It is known for its intricate wood carvings and peaceful atmosphere. The church remains one of the most well-preserved monuments in Diu.

Diu Fort is a historic coastal fort built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. It is known for its massive stone walls and strong defensive structure. The fort offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea from its ramparts. Visitors can see old cannons, lighthouse, and underground passages. It is one of the main attractions in Diu, ideal for history lovers and photographers.
