Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa
Your plane from Kathmandu arrives in Lhasa, flying over the majestic Himalayas. Our representative meets you at Lhasa Airport and helps you check into your hotel. Relax at the hotel for the rest of the day, acclimatizing yourself to the altitude of 3,650 meters.
Day 02: Lhasa
Your itinerary includes a trip to the Jokhang Temple, the Barkhor Market and the Potala Palace. The Jokhang Temple, in Old Lhasa, is an ancient shrine holding the sacred relics brought to Tibet by a Chinese princess. The Barkhor Market, in the vicinity of the Jokhang Temple, has bustling shops selling Tibetan handicrafts, shawls and many other items. The Potala Palace is the landmark of Tibet. The Palace has 13 floors and 1000 rooms. The Potala once housed the Dalai Lamas of Tibet.
Day 03: Around Lhasa
The 600-year-old Drepung Monastery lies 8 kilometers west of Lhasa. This is the largest monastery in the world, and houses well over 10,000 monks. The founder of the Yellow Hat sect of Tibetan Buddhism founded the Drepung Monastery. The Sera Monastery, close to Lhasa, was almost as old as the Drepung. It was built by a disciple of Je Tsonkhapa, the founder of the Yellow Hat sect. After touring these monasteries, you will be taken back to your hotel in Lhasa for an overnight stay.
Day 04: Lhasa- Kathmandu
From your Lhasa hotel, you will be driven to the Airport, from where you can board a flight for Kathmandu.
