Guneeta and myself went to Udaipur 30/31st march to witness the Gangaur festival. It was an amazing experience and we must promote this festival for one night in udaipur on the main day. It normally falls during end March or first week April. This festival is celebrated across Rajasthan but it is most beautiful in Udaipur. In brief, this is primarily a festival for the ladies, who are dressed in most beautiful vibrant colors and perform some Puja at the Gangaur ghat for the wellness for their husbands. Unmarried girls perform so they can get good husbands etc.
First there is a dance celebration at Jagadish chowk, from their they walk towards the Gangaur ghat and then there is Puja and celebrations etc.
The clients will be taken first to the Jagdish chowk, then they walk with the procession, then they dance and celebrate with the ladies, then they will be taken on one rooftop to see and take amazing photographs and then they will be taken on a boat to witness the Puja from the boat. Duration for the whole program will be about 3/4 hours.. From 5.30 to 8.30/9 pm etc..
Regarding Rass Devi Garh,
This is a boutique heritage hotel where we stayed for 2 nights. This is about 45 drive minutes from Udaipur city. Nestled in the Aravalli Hills of the Udaipur area, RAAS Devigarh, an 18th century palace, holds a commanding position over one of the three main passes into its valley.
Much more than just a place to stay, Devigarh is a testament to the beauty and charm of old-world Rajputana, showcasing an array of decorative styles and landscaped gardens. The palace was restored to its former glory in 1999 and converted into an all-suite luxury hotel. The modern, minimalist design of its interior juxtaposes with the ancient and ornate architecture of its exterior.
They have four kind of suits, Garden , Palace, Arawali and Devigarh suite. They all are very well equipped with all necessary amenities,beautiful bathrooms and an outstanding view from most of the suits. Most suits are quite spacious and therefore they have used very big aircondion units, even the bathrooms have the acc’s However, Garden suits are on ground level and not that luxury therefore i recommend to use palace suit onwards for the clients depending on their budget. For groups, they have beautiful locations for cocktail and dinner etc. Darbar hall is one of them. Even for FIT’s they have very special locations to serve dinner etc. They have a beautiful bar and a great restaurant with outstanding view serving very good food and managed very professionally. Raas has taken it to higher level now. We must use this for our clients.
Fatey Niwas Hotel
This is a new hotel built by the same owners of Fateygarh Palace. This is a nice new 4 star hotel with a heritage touch. Rooms are quite spacious and bathrooms are very good too. They have 2 swimming pools one on ground floor and one on the top floor with a restaurant. The view of the lake is good, you can see the palace and the lake palace hotel etc but it is quite distant as the hotel is little far from the lake. The lobby and the restaurant was looking very good. Overall, we can use in 4 star category. This is another hotel which can be confidently used in Udaipur..
Vantara Resort and Spa
Checked on this property which is run by tree of life jaipur ( green leaf ) however now it is not showing on their site. .
This is only a 16 rooms property on a four acre land built in resort style. Two category of rooms, superior and standard. Both are very good with very nice bathrooms. They have beautiful lawns and a beautiful swimming pool and the spa area was not operational yet but was looking very good. Restaurant was also looking very good.
This resort is midway from the airport and the city ( 15/20 minutes to the airport or the city ) and therefore if using this property, the clients should be informed properly about the location. The resort can be used if the clients are okay with the distance.
After 2 days Amarjeet joined me for a FAM study trip for 4 days to Chittorgarh, Castle Bijaypur, Fort Begu, Bhaisrogarh, Sapotra/Ramathra Fort, Kota and Bundi etc.
