Study Tour to Gwalior by Mr. Amarjeet Singh, (Manager Inbound Tours) from 17-18 Feb 2018.

Board Shatabdi Exp at 0600 hrs from Delhi to Gwalior on 17th Feb-18. The Journey was Ok, but bit slower than earlier as more stations are added like Dholpur and Murena. Quality of Food and cleanness are also acceptable.Reached Gwalior at 1000hrs, and met with Mr. Mathur from Travel Bureau along with driver and transferred to Deo Bagh Hotel. Room was not ready as Hotel was full, I took the opportunity to take a quick round of the Hotel. The room was ready around 1100 hrs. Later after short beak I started my Hotel inspection Tour.

Deo Bagh Hotel (A Neemrana Hotels) – Offbeat Heritage
This is a 17th Century Old Place mainly used for political discussion at that time, converted to Hotel 2012. The Hotel is Located on the outskirts of Gwalior (on Agra-Mumbai Highway), but with lots of character and charm like other Neemrana Hotels. - Total 15 rooms divided into 5 Wings (Zenana, Aaron, Gwalior, Baroda and Patan), and categorized as Heritage Royal, Heritage Splendor and Heritage Old World. Each room has a different character, vintage furniture and attached bathroom.

All room have split A/C with individual Control, and Having Tea/Coffee making machine in the room. Bathroom are equipped with all modern amenities and toiletries.  All Rooms have seating area in front of the room.  They do not have Television in the rooms. WiFi coactivity available on complimentary.
-  All the room are Facing Garden Called Nau Bagh, where they organise hi-tea every evening, which is a part of package and included the in room rent.
-  Hotel have only 01 Dining Room (capacity of 35-40 Pax), where they served North Indian cuisine can be mixed-up with continental dishes or traditional Maratha dishes.
-  There are two very old Maratha temples and two cenotaphs, well carved made of Sand Stone. They also have one pavilion with 36 arched doors (36 Dari) where one can organise Dinner for Special occasion.
-  I was told that there are over 30 species of  birds nestled within the property including peacock, Grey Hornbill and Sparrow etc.

Remarks:
Highly Recommended for inbound travellers, and also for client looking for off beaten tour /stay.
The 2nd best Hotel in the City after Usha Kiran Palace.
Hotel do not serve Alcohol, as they don’t have BAR License. 
They do not have Swimming Pool.

Usha Kiran Palace (Taj Hotel ) – Deluxe Heritage  
This is a 120 year old Palace with rich stone carvings, filigree work and he interiors are equally lavish. The Best Heritage hotel in Gwalior located near the Old High Court area, living to the standards of royal Gwalior hospitality.  Hotel is spread out in 9 acres of manicured garden.
-  Total 40 specious rooms (15 Superior, 15 Deluxe and rest Suites).
-   All room have with AC, LCD TV, mini bar, tea/coffee maker, safe deposit box vintage furnishings, canopied bed. Bathroom are equipped with all modern amenities including Bathtub and premium toiletries. 
-  Hotel have only 01 Restaurant (Silver Saloon) serves Continental, Asian and Indian cuisines.
-   They have coffee shop, The Bada Bar is temporarily closed as they do not have BAR License. They told me that staff can arrange the Bear & Wine from outside on in the room on clients demand, which is a surprise for me.
-   They have very  nice Swimming Pool  next to Jiva Spa. The other recreational facilities are golf, table tennis, billiards table, badminton, gymnasium and yoga/meditation.
-   Pleasant courtyard garden where complementary tea is served in the afternoons.
-   They also have 03 Hindu Temples in the Hotel compound.

Remarks:
Highly Recommended for Deluxe / Luxury inbound travellers.
Hotel do not server Alcohol, as they don’t have BAR License. 

Central Park Hotel (3* )  
A 3 Star Modern Hotel Located in the city Center having with 110 rooms including suites with all necessary amenities like TV, Tea/Coffee maker, attached bathroom and 24 hour hot and cold water,
-  They also have nice Garden and a Swimming Pool (Not working, due to shortage of water in the city and Govt. has temporarily stop them).
-   A multi cuisine restaurant, serving Indian and continental food.
-   A small business centre and Conference / Banquet hall for local conferences and events, and weddings.

Remarks:
The Hotel is a Rundown not at all recommended to use for our Clients.
Public areas and rooms are  not clean not well maintained, Bathroom are not clean, dust and stain on shower curtains.

Ramaya Hotel  (3* Hotel)
-  A Newly built 3* modern (Boutique style) hotel with 35 rooms including suites with all necessary amenities like TV, Tea/Coffee maker, attached bathroom and 24 hour hot and cold water, and safe deposit box.
-  Nice clean Room and Bathrooms, the staff was also looking friendly.
-  The GM known to TSI from many year as came to our office for Marking of Central Park long time back.
-   They a multi cuisine restaurant, serving Indian and continental food.
-  02 Conference / Banquet hall for local conferences and events, and weddings.
- 01 Roof to Restaurant (Sky Wings) with beautiful view of the city.

Remarks:
New Hotel with acceptable standard and can be use for budget clients.
Very small Lobby.

Clarks Inn  (3* Hotels)
A 3* modern (boutique) hotel with 56 rooms (Deluxe, Executive  and Suites) with all necessary amenities like TV, Tea/Coffee maker, attached bathroom and 24 hour hot and cold water, and safe deposit box.
-   Nice clean Room and Bathrooms, but the staff was not professional
-   They have a multi cuisine restaurant, serving Indian and continental food.
-   Conference / Banquet hall for local conferences and events, and weddings.
-   Rooftop area also used for Parties
-   A Very small Swimming pool on Rooftop, and also have spa and sauna

Remarks:
Can be used for Budge client as room are nice clean and amenities are of acceptable standards.
Hotel is mainly used for Local Parties and Marriages
Being on Roadside, lot of noise and Parking can also be problem

Landmark Hotel (3* Hortel)
A 3* modern hotel is a centrally located business hotel with close proximity to the Railway Station.
-   42 centrally AC Deluxe and Super Deluxe rooms with all necessary amenities like TV, Tea/Coffee maker, attached bathroom and 24 hour hot and cold water and 24hrs room Service.
-    Nice clean Room and Bathrooms, the staff was also looking friendly.
- The GM very friendly and keen to work with us as also handled our client in Past.
-  They have a multi cuisine restaurant, serving Indian and continental food.
-  Also have a small  coffee shop
-   A well stocked Bar with License (The only hotel found with License to serve Alcohol).
-  Conference and banquet hall for business meets and events and weddings.
-   A Terrace garden for functions and lawns with a capacity of up to 1000 people

Remarks:
Hotel with acceptable standard and can be use for budget clients.
Staff is very friendly and attentive
Very small Lobby.

The Gwalior Regency
Not visited this Hotel as fully occupied with local Marriages and staff and Managers were busy, not available to show around.

Tansen (MP Tourism Hotel) 3*
A MP Tourism 3* Hotel   is a centrally located with close proximity to the Railway Station.
-          36 rooms (Deluxe Suite and Standard)
-          Rooms with AC, cable TV and room service
-          Room are not so clean and standard Bathrooms with basic toiletries,
-          Thing are lying in Commen area which doesn’t give good expression.
-          They have a multi cuisine restaurant, serving Indian and continental food.
-          A well stocked Bar with License (The Hotel has License to serve Alcohol).
-          Conference and banquet hall for business meets and events and weddings.
-          A Garden Area is also used for Marriages and Parties

Remarks:
Not recommended to use for our Clients.
Rooms and other areas are not well maintained, and as per the manager fund has been approved for renovation

Radisson Blu  Hotel (5* Deluxe)
-          The Hotel is 70-80% ready and hopefully will be operational from 1stApril.
-          Hotel look very nice and according to the norms of Radisson
-           They showed us few room with were ready and they very nicely done. Room size are also good and bathroom are equipped with all modern facility,
-          The Restaurant on the lobby level was almost ready look very nice and specious
-          They did not allow taking pictures as per their policy.

I also get time to visit The Gwalior Fort, Gurudwara and Scindia  Museum (Jai Vilas Palace)

The Gwalior Fort 
Very impressive 10th Centaury Fort situated to Hilltop and one of the biggest fort Ruled by Tomar, Mughal and British. The main attractions of the fort are Man Mandir Palace and Gujari Mahal.

02 Main Temples
Saas Bahu Mandir (Actual name is Sahastra Baahu means Thousand Arms) devoted to Lord Kartikey. 
Teli ka Mandir – A Hindu Temple devoted to Lord Vishnu.

Gurudwara Data Bandichhod
where 06thGuru of Sikh– Guru Hargobind sahib ji, was kept as prisoner by Jahangir, later he managed to released 52 Kings of different states from Gwalior Prison.  

Gopachal Parvat
Gopachal is situated on way to fort at Gwalior. This is famous for idols of Jain Tirthankars of different sizes carved by cutting the rocks in the hills. It looks like as a big temple as all the idols have been places almost everywhere. There is a very beautiful & attractive miraculous idol of Bhagwan Parsvanath in padmasana seating posture 42 feet in height & 30 feet in width.

Scindia  Museum (Jai Vilas Palace) -   A must visit Palace
The ground floor consists of seven galleries which include the Scindia lineage, sardars, uniforms, textiles, carriages and indoor swimming pool. First floor comprises few galleries of specific collections. In addition to 10 period-rooms, the museum has Neo classical room, napoleon table room crystal furniture room, Kerman Masha’ir carpet room and Oriental art room.
The world famous Darbar Hall complex has a Banquet hall with silver toy train, tat-pat bhojan hall, billiards room and an exclusive gold-gilt Darbar hall with a huge carpet and a pair of gigantic chandeliers. Few more galleries are being added to this complex in the near future.

Later board Taj Express at 1650 hrs from Gwalior to Delhi on 18th Feb-18 and reached Delhi at 2315 hrs, as Train was delayed.
