Fish Store - Yangzongyong Lake

Tibet The Yangzongyong Lake lies in the Langkamu Country of Tibet. With a shoreline of 250 kilometers, the Yangzongyong Lake is one of the larger lakes of Tibet. Due to its large fish population, this lake is called "the Fish Store" of Tibet. The Yangzongyong Lake is 60 feet deep at the center, making it one of the deepest freshwater lakes in the world. The planktons and algae in the water provide food to the fish population, while the high levels of oxygen in the lake makes it an ideal home for aquatic life.

The quiet shores of the Lake, high up in the craggy mountains, are a paradise for nature lovers. You can sit at the lakeside and watch the fish leaping in and out of the water, their fins gleaming in the sun. Many people feed the fish flour balls, and limited fishing is allowed, though you must be careful to take permission from the locals beforehand. Water birds like ducks, geese and swans preen themselves on the shores. Sometimes, you may find a family of ducks paddling across the Yangzongyong Lake in a queue. This is the moment when tourists get into a frenzy of photographing. A stroll through the lakeside will bring you to the green pastures where soft grasses gently sway in the wind.
