History of Mumbai
Mumbai's history is quite rich and magnificent. It was a cluster of seven islands. These islands were Colaba, Smaller Colaba, Worli, Parel, Mazgaon, Mumbadevi & Mahim. They were in the possession of North Indian Aryans. A time came when the Muslims from Gujarat attacked the land and captured it. Thus Muslim rule over these islands began. In 1534 the Portuguese ruled over the islands. Then the Dutch too made their way. In 1662 these islands were taken over by the British. Thus a long British rule began in Mumbai. Influence of all these foreigners is crystal clear in this city. The historical monuments are reminder of these outsider rulers and you can enjoy them during your travel to Mumbai.
